Ok, so "data driven marketing" sounds like a MBA required course.
The reality is that an enormous amount of marketing dollars are spent to attract or retain customers without identifying who they are or what they prefer.
DBMI says, take this out of the realm of theory and put it into practice.

DBMI uses database technology that allows us to integrate data from client locations with third party databases to provide accurate, mailable, targeted query results. The variety of queries that can be performed is limitless, including radius search, known non-guests, address append to existing clients, service/no-extra-service guests, non-returning guests, vip guests, lucky guests (“randomly” chosen for a prize) etc .
The results of the queries from your internal databases can be used for both postal and electronic mail as well as electronic follow up to postal redemption or non-redemption. Tracking can be made down to the piece level, especially with electronic couponing, and can enable exacting tracking of individual offers and circulations.
By generating these lists from known databases and from electronic mailing lists, the results can be reported electronically to an exacting degree. Information about not only redemption, but quality, retention, and even customer feedback from those redemptions can be integrated into the reporting through transactional data analysis. In addition, this data can be refined through additional enhancement processes. All reporting information can be deployed as an Excel or an Acrobat document.
The goal of the analytics DBMI produces is to provide an accurate measurement of ROI on what matters most to you - the positive uptick in sales, retention, retrial, etc.-that the marketing is designed to produce. Measuring with this goal produces reasonable expectations from the marketing buyer about the value of their investment in database marketing.
